Terms and Conditions
Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional therapy practitioners use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine. It is relevant both for individuals looking to enhance their health and wellbeing and for those with chronic conditions wishing to work with or 'consult' a nutritional therapist in collaboration with other suitably qualified healthcare professionals.
Practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Practitioners never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. They will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided.
The Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (RNTP)
The RNTP requests that the Client is aware of the following:
The RNTP will personalise advice to support medically diagnosed conditions and/or health concerns agreed and identified by the two parties.
The RNTP is not permitted to diagnose or claim to treat medical conditions.
Nutritional therapy is not a substitute for professional medical advice and treatment.
The RNTP may receive a commission on supplements or functional testing recommended as part of a nutritional therapy programme.
Standards of professional practice in nutritional therapy are governed by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance.
The RNTP will make it clear if any services outside of the scope of nutritional therapy practice are provided.
The Client
The Client understands and agrees to the following:
The degree of benefit obtained from nutritional therapy may vary between clients with similar health problems and following a similar programme.
I am responsible for contacting my GP or specialist about any health concerns I may have.
If I am receiving treatment from my GP or any other medical provider, I will advise them of any nutrition recommendations I will be following.
I will also advise any other complementary therapists I may consult.
It is important to tell my RNTP practitioner about any medical diagnosis I have received and any prescription medication, herbal medicine, food supplements or over the counter medications I am taking, as it may affect the nutritional programme.
If I am unclear about any part of my plan, I should contact my practitioner for clarification.
I will report any concerns about my programme to the RNTP at my next consultation.
My nutritional programme will have a time frame and I should not continue with recommendations outside of this unless agreed by the RNTP. This is to avoid any adverse reactions.
I am aware that the recommendations are personal to me and may not be appropriate for others.
Recording consultations using any form of electronic media is not allowed without the written permission of both myself and my RNTP.
It is my responsibility to ensure I have a working internet connection for online appointments.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
The RNTP will keep your personal information confidential and secure following the UK GDPR guidelines for the practice. The RNTP will not share your information with third parties without your consent. However, if the RNTP believed there is a risk of significant harm to yourself or another person, the RNTP may pass the information on to an appropriate authority using the legal basis of vital interest. A separate Privacy Policy is available for your review.
